* 4 pork chops, 1/2 thick
* 1 salt & pepper
* 1 shortening for browning
* 1/4 cup chopped onion
* 1/2 cup uncooked rice, not the quick
* 3/4 cup water
* 1/2 cup peeled and chopped tart appl
* 1/2 cup orange sections
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 1/8 tsp poultry seasoning
DIRECTIONS
Cut off excess fat off the pork chops. Season it lightly using salt and pepper. Use shortening to brown it immediately. Leave a tablespoon of dripping into the skillet and use it for sauteing the onions.
Add all the rest of the ingredients with the onions but not including the chops. Combine thoroughly and transfer into an oiled 2-quart shallow casserole. Put the chops over the mixture and put a cover. Place it into the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.
