A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"For your next picnic, have this savory barbecue prepared. Impressive and easy."

    INGREDIENTS

5 pounds pork spareribs, cut into serving size pieces
    1/2 cup butter
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 tablespoon minced garlic
    1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
    1 cup water
    1 cup ketchup
1 cup hickory smoke flavored barbeque sauce
    1 lemon, juiced
    salt and pepper to taste

    DIRECTIONS

    • Put the ribs in a large skillet and cover with lightly salted water. Heat until boiling. Adjust heat to allow simmering for about 60 minutes. Remove from heat and drain.
    • Transfer the cooked ribs into a roasting pan. Add sauce, covering the meat. Place a cover and refrigerate for not less than 2 hours.
    • For the sauce, heat butter in a saucepan to melt. Add the onion and garlic, sauteing until tender. Remove from heat. Place a cup of water, vinegar, ketchup, barbeque sauce and lemon juice into a blender then combine. Add the melted butter mixture and puree for another minute. When done, transfer the mixture into a saucepan. Add salt and pepper to taste, heating until boiling. Remove from heat.
    • Prepare grill to medium-high heat. Spread oil onto the grill grate and place the ribs to cook for about 20 minutes. Use the prepared sauce to baste the meat as it grills. Turn often.
    • Makes 10 servings
