    Pork Sausage and Cabbage Pitas

    Here is a great recipe to serve as a main meal course or an appetizer. You can even enjoy it as a snack when friends come over.

    INGREDIENTS

    1 1/2 pounds ground pork sausage
    1 medium head cabbage, shredded
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
    1 tablespoon white sugar
    salt to taste
    1/2 cup water
    1/3 cup sour cream
    1 (8 ounce) package pitas, halved

    DIRECTIONS

    • Cook the pork sausage in a wok or skillet until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
    • Combine the shredded cabbage, onion, crushed red pepper, sugar, salt and water in a wok or skillet. Cook for about 20 minutes, steaming covered until tender. Stir from time to time.
    • Add the sausage into the cabbage mixture and add the sour cream. Combine thoroughly and use mixture to fill warmed pita bread. Serve.
